2023 Alma Taylor Foundation Grant Program

GRANT PROGRAM

The Alma Taylor Foundation (ATF) grant program provides reimbursement as matching funds to pre-approved projects, up to maximum lifetime grant award of $20,000 per building address.

GRANT ELIGIBILITY

The grant applicant must be the owner of record or contract purchaser of a commercial building located in the Historic Downtown Greensburg district, defined as the area within two blocks of the Courthouse Square. The building, or the part of the building to be repaired, must be used for commercial purposes only and not private residences or residential rentals, church-related or governmental purposes. That is, if the building is of mixed use, only the commercial portion of the building is eligible for an ATF grant.

APPROVED PROJECTS

The grant program is designed to encourage the maintenance and improvement of commercial buildings, with the emphasis on the preservation of historic features that contribute to the distinctive character of Downtown Greensburg. Suggested exterior projects include façade repair and paint, roofs, windows, awnings, signage, and lighting. Interior projects can be heating/air, electrical, plumbing, or floor/wall structural repair. Grant funding is not available for working capital, property acquisition, or refinancing existing debt.

GRANT PROCESS

Applicants must first submit the INTENT TO APPLY form, proposed budget, and this signed

GUIDELINES form by January 2, 2023 to the ATF Board for consideration. Successful applicants will then receive the full ATF 2023 GRANT APPLICATION on January 5, 2023, which is due back to the ATF Board by Tuesday, January 18, 2023. These successful applicants will also be invited to present their projects to the ATF Board at the Tuesday, February 1, 2023, meeting.

DISTRIBUTION OF GRANTS

The building owner must first pay the full cost of the completed pre-approved project then submit receipts and cancelled checks to the ATF Board before they will be reimbursed with the designated grant proceeds. Projects must be completed within twelve months of the grant award. Project deviations/changes will void the grant approval unless approved by the ATF Board.
